Book pre-launch event at Cosmo City Church |
Many products come with manuals when purchased from an
authentic retail outlet or distributor. I recently had to replace an old Defy
cooking hob with a newly purchased Whirlpool hob from an authentic dealer. The
two hobs had similar functions but where different in how you use them. They
both could boil a pot and cook a neck of lamb. But they were different! Have
you driven an automatic transmission car after years of using a manual
transmission car? The automatic offers a new and different experience – you
press the start button (or twist the key to crank the engine), put the gear
selector in ‘D’ for drive and you won’t have to touch the gear shifter (unless
you wish to enjoy the steptronic technology) or depress the clutch pedal before
you reach your destination. For a
manual transmission, you clutch and change gears for most of the manoeuvres!
Same function different ways to use! The new hob promised to give a new
seamless and effortless experience!
The Defy hob was ancient. It had dials for increasing or
decreasing the heat temperature for cooking. The new one was touchscreen, it
was a digital experience. My frustration was that, I was so accustomed to the
dials to manage my old appliance in achieving my goals and objectives in the
kitchen. Using touchscreen was new and little foreign especially for a cooking
hob! For the fact that I could not navigate with ease, I had to rely on the
manufacturer’s manual booklet.
After picking the manual for the cooking hob, everything fell
in the right place. Within minutes, I was back to my MasterChef instincts in my
refurbished kitchen with the new hob. Where it not for the manual booklet that
came from the manufacturer with the hob, I may have remained frustrated and
never get to enjoy the new appliance I bought. The appliance may look sophisticated with all
its digital stuff, but the manual helps to cut through the clutter of
sophistication and complexity and bring simplicity to ease of use to fulfil
your intended use for the appliance.
The same is with life. A life without a sense of direction
is like a ship without a radar, never likely to arrive at its destiny! Moagi
Keretetse has put together Manual for Fulfilling your Purpose
book with the sole intent to assist you in the journey of life so that you may
find navigation tools that leads to fulfilment in achieving your purpose in
life. It is a manual that you can always go pick up and refer. It is a guide
along the journey. It is not a book to read and put it in your garage. You will
need to refer to it several times along the journey. When you enter new
dimensions in your life some chapters will become relevant. In your current
season in your process to fulfilling your purpose, some chapters are
immediately relevant. Use it to make progress as you take action to reach your
destiny.
With a compelling case-in-point, Moagi uses the case of
Nehemiah and provides principles that have been tested throughout centuries and
are within reach of every individual who wish to embark on a journey of
significance and achieve great thing in God. The case used is a “story of
courage, persistence, leadership, governance and just plain grit in achieving
goals, dreams and plans” as put forth by the Author. For Nehemiah the
cupbearer, who used to taste the king’s wine for poisoning, it all started by
being sensitive to the needs of humanity at large and rising to the occasion to
meet the demands of fulfilling that need with passion, commitment and courage.
It is true that there are two types of people in life. One type resemble
thermometers - they react to the complexities of humanity without taking any
challenge to alleviate their plight. While another kind of people is like
thermostats – they are proactive and problem solvers. They regulate, manage and
control their immediate environment to bring about the desired atmosphere.
Moagi, is presenting a thermostat challenge to you – can you identify a
challenge in life that moves you enough to act and have a sense of obligation
to serve your community and generation. It is this need that will unlock your
potential, creativity and innovation to create products or services that
addresses the challenges of humanity.

In this manual, Moagi helps us remember that a resource is
not greater than its Source. We all need to connect with God our Source with
prayer as a discipline. He reminds us that “Prayer brings clarity of direction.
Prayer removes ambiguity because in prayer, the Lord reveals His perfect will.”
God Our Source is extending an invitation through this manual to call unto Him
and He will answer us and show us great and unsearchable things we do not know!
The manual shares actionable insights into the need to be a
team player, the requirement for communication, problem solving skills. It ends
with an exhortation to run your race to win, and do the honourable thing that
will be your epitaph to many generations: leave a legacy through fulfilling
your purpose and destiny in your lifetime. My advice for benefitting from this
book is that, do not read the book in one setting. Read a chapter a day or so and
ponder on the questions that follow at the end of the chapter. That is where
your return on the investment value is hidden!
I highly recommend this manual to the larger Body of Christ,
the Church, whether you in the deacons’ board or and elders’ team, worship
leader or children’s church leader. This is a book to inspire you to take on
the challenges in your personal life, church and ministry and bring about the
dream alive. I recommend it to every person across all walks of life who wishes
to live a life that counts for something significant. Small dreams have no
power to move men’s hearts and cannot stir any one’s blood to go achieve great victory.
